Bafana Bafana’s new head coach off to a good start when the national team beat Ghana 1-0 in an international friendly soccer match played at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg last night.
This is the same venue where the Black Stars players’ were left heartbroken by who denied them victory during a World Cup quarterfinal match early last month. The Uruguayans went on to win the match on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
Last night’s win is a morale booster for Bafana ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger at Mbombela Stadium next month.
Prior to last night’s match, the two sides had played each other eight times, since 1994 with Bafana winning four times, the Black Stars registering two victories and the other two games ending in draws.
